The Sales Manager leads customer relationships and commercial activities for a chemical manufacturing business. This position is responsible for executing sales strategies, achieving annual sales and profitability targets, managing pricing and forecasting, and negotiating commercial agreements. The Sales Manager works closely with Customer Service, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, and commercial leadership to support customer needs and business objectives.
Build and maintain long-term customer relationships.
Execute commercial strategies established by the Commercial Manager.
Achieve annual sales and profitability targets through sales volume and pricing optimization.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maximize contribution margin and support EBITDA objectives.
Manage pricing, forecasting, contract and proposal reviews, approvals, and new account setup.
Anticipate seasonal demand and adjust commercial activities accordingly.
Maintain knowledge of the product portfolio, market conditions, and customer applications.
Provide weekly market updates by close of business each Thursday, or sooner when appropriate.
Negotiate and review commercial agreements, contracts, and proposals to protect business interests and meet commercial targets.
Maintain an accessible database of signed agreements and other commercial documents.
Coordinate with Accounts Receivable to review customer credit limits and support payment collection within six days of agreed terms.
Obtain board approval before establishing new payment terms exceeding net 30 days.
Secure timely approvals for pricing, customer credits, invoice adjustments, and applicable delegated authority requirements.
Follow antitrust rules and company commercial policies.
Perform work safely and follow company Safety, Health, and Environmental requirements, including the seven Life Saving Rules and 20 safety principles.
Conduct meaningful safety discussions with internal stakeholders or customers at least quarterly.
Submit travel preapproval requests at least two weeks before travel, complete expense reports within required deadlines, and remain within the annual expense budget.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experienced sales professional with extensive product and market knowledge.
Ability to understand and execute commercial strategy.
Knowledge of customer applications, market conditions, and seasonal demand.
Ability to manage customer relationships, pricing, forecasting, and commercial negotiations.
Understanding of sales profitability measures, including contribution margin and EBITDA.
Ability to collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams, including Customer Service, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, and commercial leadership.
